How Can You Show Up For Yourself Every Day!?

Think about your journey at this moment taking into account these two questions. How do you want to better yourself? What does that specifically look like for you? This may be taking a closer look at your spiritual journey, financial journey, etc. I encourage you to take time to know yourself and figure out what you need so you can show up for yourself every single day.

What does it mean to show up for yourself?

This question is going to mean different things to different people and that is okay. However, generally speaking, it is about taking time to be present for yourself. Truth be told I show up for others every single day whether it be at work, for friends, family, or strangers. BUT, when do I show up for myself in the same capacity I show up for others?

Here are 5 ways you can show up for yourself…

1. Make time to do activities that bring you joy

  • Connect with your passion and explore a side of yourself that you do not make time for or forgot about. Do not think too hard about this. Simply relax your mind in a quiet place and think about memories that have made you smile at one point. Take that memory and recreate it in real-time. Make a list of these memories to do on a regular base. This helps you to feel and be more positive in your daily life.

2. Set boundaries

  • Setting boundaries is very important when it comes to self-care. This action allows you to take care of yourself by prioritizing your needs. This can be difficult for some people to do because some people have a hard time telling others no and feel guilty if they say no. Saying no to things that do not positively serve us or prioritize our needs helps us to build and maintain healthy relationships.

3. Make time to mentally rest

  • Everyone needs to make time and take time to mentally reset by giving their brain a break. This can be done through journaling, listening to calming music, nature walks, etc. Anything that allows you to give your mind a break from the busy world in which we live. Try taking 10 minutes a day to be physically still in a quiet place where we can focus only on our breath as we clear our minds at that moment can be very beneficial when it comes to decreasing stress.

4. Develop a routine

  • Commit to yourself by creating a daily routine where you set aside undisrupted time just for yourself. In these moments you journal, meditate, exercise, etc. The goal is to choose activities that will set you on a path of personal development for continued growth in areas you would like to work on. Think about how much we often pour into others, wouldn't it be nice to invest that same energy back into ourselves.

5. Celebrate who you are

  • This can be done through daily affirmations. Write your own or research and collect ones that resonate with you. For example, “I love myself and I deserve to experience joy daily.” Try this every morning to start your day off in a positive direction.

It is never too late to take back control over your life and begin a journey of healing. What things can you do to give yourself the attention you deserve starting today? Change takes time, dedication, and patience with yourself. It is a continuous journey, but I know you are worth every bit of the time invested in yourself.
